Self Custody your BTC

This is a recurring event to help people learn how to safely take self custody of their Bitcoin. Please come ready to do it: have some BTC waiting on an exchange and bring your preferred wallet (laptop, phone, whatever you prefer).

I have my own wallet recommendations but these sessions are intended to be universal: I will help you with whatever wallet you prefer.

For context: I lost a large amount of bitcoin when Mt Gox collapsed in 2014. I have learned the hard way and want to save others from the trouble that I went through because I didn’t self custody my BTC in the early years of my BTC journey.

I have a 20 yr career in IT Consulting, specifically securing systems for manufacturing plants that do work for DoD (CMMC controls). My approach to safe self custody is based on this, reflecting on best practices for securing data and computer systems.
